Warrington Wolves to host Sheffield Eagles in Challenge Cup switch

WARRINGTON WOLVES will host Sheffield Eagles in the Challenge Cup third round after the two clubs agreed to a ground switch.

Like all other Super League clubs, Warrington were drawn an away tie.

But Sheffield, who beat fellow Championship side Whitehaven in round two, have opted against holding the tie at their Olympic Legacy Park.

“The decision to revert the game to the Halliwell Jones Stadium offers financial benefits for both clubs and allows for a larger crowd,” explained the Eagles.

The game will be played on Friday, February 6 with a 7.30pm kick-off.

On the same evening Hull KR will welcome Lock Lane, the last remaining community club in the competition, after that tie was also reversed.

Meanwhile, Oldham’s home match against Dewsbury Rams has been moved to Bower Fold in Stalybridge, the scene of their round-two victory over Orrell St James.

It comes as the club remain in dispute with Oldham Athletic FC over use of Boundary Park.
