Warrington youngsters King and Livett agree new deals

Warrington Wolves’ second rower George King has agreed a one-year contract extension and academy centre Harvey Livett has signed a full-time deal.

King has agreed a new contract to keep him at the Wolves alongside his brother Toby until November 2017. After just months in the club’s academy system King was promoted to the first-team training squad mid-way through last year and the second rower made his first-team debut in June 2014. He has gone on to make 19 first-team  appearances this season.

Livett has developed through the club’s academy system having played his junior rugby at Rylands and has already picked up honours with England academy. He made 17 appearances for the under 19s this year; a side which reached the semi-final stage of the academy competition this season. Despite still waiting on his first-team debut, since signing full time this season Livett has been named in the Super League squad.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “George has really come on this year. He’s had a fantastic season having played 19 matches, developing from being a replacement player to starting the last four games. He’s progressed exceptionally well and we are really pleased that he has penned another deal. We believe he has a really bright future and will hopefully go on to bigger and better things here at Warrington. We are delighted for George and the club.

“We recognise that Harvey has some real potential. He’s been training with the full-time squad throughout parts of this year to get a taste of it and he’s been exceptional in his attitude. He’s earned his position in the squad and I can see him going on to have a good future with us.
