‘We can’t blame anyone but ourselves’ says frustrated York Knights coach

MARK APPLEGARTH said York Knights could only blame themselves for a fourth straight defeat.

His side went down 30-20 at Bradford Bulls after being level early in the second half.

“Congratulations to Bradford, who nailed the moments and play a lovely brand of front-foot rugby,” said Applegarth.

“We invited undue pressure onto ourselves at the start of the second half, whether through penalties, not making touch and other unforced errors that cost you.

“We can’t blame anyone but ourselves at the moment but we have to keep at it as there were periods in that game when we looked great but just don’t do it consistently enough.

“As a coach I’ve got to make sure that we do it from minute one to minute 80 and not just in patches.

“Bradford are a good team and I’ve a hell of a lot of respect for them.

“I was quite happy when it was 8-all just after half-time but unfortunately then we had a bit of a horror period for 20 minutes or so.”
