Hull KR coach James Webster has insisted that he is expecting to be at the club in 2017 in some capacity.

Webster is currently working as the club’s interim coach for the rest of this year following the departure of Chris Chester way back at the start of the season.

However, with the Robins expected to make an external appointment for 2017 and beyond, Webster has admitted that his role at the club next year is dependent on whether the new man sees him as part of his plans.

But with Webster already employed by the club prior to Chester’s departure – he worked as the City of Hull Academy coach – he is hopeful of sticking around next year – but admitted he’s in the dark over a potential appointment.

“I haven’t heard anything on that front,” he said.

“Whether a deal has been done with someone or not I don’t know, and I haven’t had time to think about it.

“I envisage being part of the club next year; whoever takes the role will have the final say though, of course.”
