WEST HULL booked a berth in the BARLA National Cup final, which will be played on Saturday, October 31 at The OneBore Stadium, Castleford, with a 36-12 home win over FEATHERSTONE LIONS at the competition’s penultimate stage.

The game only went ahead after Wests hired a tanker and watered the bone-dry pitch on Friday evening.

The Green and Golds’ enterprise was rewarded when Jack Sanderson, Josh Oliver, Benn Arbon and Jack Lazenby crossed in the first half, Sanderson adding three conversions to help establish a 22-0 interval lead. 

Featherstone Lions hit back to 22-12, Ian Jackson converting tries by Alfie Beresford and Josh Hardcastle, but the unbeaten National League leaders eased home with touchdowns for Robbie Jones, Eligh Wilkinson and Lazenby, with Sanderson booting his fourth goal.

The other semi-final, between Ince Rose Bridge and Leigh Miners Rangers, was postponed because of an unfit pitch, as was the 1973 Cup semi-final between Blackbrook and Hunslet ARLFC.

Fryston Warriors are through to that final (which will be part of a double-header at Castleford) after Cumbrian outfit Distington conceded.
