EDINBURGH GIANTS claimed their first win of the season in Super League, beating BRADFORD BULLS 78-42 after being 42-12 up at the break.
Calum Davidson led the way for the Scottish side with eight tries and six goals. Stuart Williams scored a hat-trick of tries, with Stephen Halsey, who kicked seven goals, going over twice.
Keiron Johnson kept Bradford in the game with his hat-trick of tries and seven conversions. Charlie Wanless scored a brace of tries, with Richard Wright and Daniel McGrath each going over once.
LEEDS RHINOS remain second, but now two points clear of third place, although their 62-32 win over SHEFFIELD EAGLES doesn’t tell the full story of the match.
It looked like Leeds were going to sail to the win. Tristan Norfolk scored four tries in the first nine minutes, with Nathan Mulhall converting three of them for Leeds to go into an early 22-0 lead.
An unconverted Luis Domingos try got Sheffield on the board on 13 minutes, before Norfolk addressed the balance with his fifth try of the game.
But two tries from Chris Haynes and one each from Domingos and Stephen Reilly, three of them improved by Joe Wink-Simmonds, pulled the score back to 26-all at the break.
A minute into the second half, Becky Wilkinson scored a try for Leeds to put them back ahead, only for Sheffield to quickly reply through a Wink-Simmonds try and goal to give them a 32-30 lead.
However, that advantage was only to last two minutes as Leeds dominated the rest of the game. Tries from Jodie Boyd-Ward, Norfolk and Cam Hills, plus a hat-trick from Josh Butler, helped give them the points.
WIGAN WARRIORS came back from behind to beat LONDON ROOSTERS 31-22 and pull level with them on eight points from four games.
All of the Roosters’ points came in the first half, after going into the interval with a narrow 22-18 lead thanks to two tries each from Lewis King, who also kicked three goals, and Jack Linden.
Jack Heggie scored three tries and was 100 percent with his conversions for Wigan, with five.
Mel Griffith and Nathan Roberts also went over for tries, while Adam Rigby landed a field-goal.
HALIFAX PANTHERS cemented their top-of-the-table position after a 99-6 demolition of HULL FC.
Jack Brown scored seven tries, Rob Hawkins got six tries, six goals and a field-goal, Wayne Boardman scored a try and seven goals, Fin O’Neill went over for a brace of tries and Jordan Holt and Joe Calcott scored one each.
Hull’s reply came from a Josh Edwards try and goal.
