HALIFAX PANTHERS have one hand on the League Leaders’ Shield after their 99-18 win at HULL FC.

Their eleventh win of the season means they need one more point from their last two games to secure top spot, and they have a far superior points difference to both London Roosters and Wigan Warriors.

The season’s top league and cup try-scorer Rob Hawkins increased his tally to 80 after scoring nine in this encounter. His three goals also mean he’s just 31 points off being the first to reach 500 in 2026.

Also for Halifax, Jack Brown scored two tries and kicked a field-goal, Finlay O’Neill chipped in with a hat-trick of tries, Jordan Holt scored twice, while Wayne Boardman scored a try and kicked twelve goals.

Hull, who were 61-12 down at the break, registered two tries from Nathan Sherwood, while Josh Edwards scored one and converted three times.

LONDON ROOSTERS leapfrogged WIGAN WARRIORS into second place, after their clash in the capital, winning 50-30 after being 26-12 up at half-time.

Jason Owen scored two tries and kicked five goals for London. Max Owen went over for a hat-trick, Jack Linden and Lewis King scored twice while Joe Coyd got one.

Wigan youngster Matthew Turner continued his good form with a hat-trick of tries. Nathan Roberts and Jack Heggie also went over, with the latter 100 percent with the conversions, landing all five.

LEEDS RHINOS can no longer finish top, but are still fighting it out for second place, and they gave their points difference a big boost after beating local rivals BRADFORD BULLS 100-6.

The Rhinos were 52-6 up at the break, but early on, the Bulls were making a game of it.

A try from Tristan Norfolk after just one minute, converted by Tom Halliwell, gave Leeds the lead, but Bradford were soon level, thanks to a Michael Potter try which Keiron Johnson improved.

But after that, it was all Leeds. Norfolk got the next two tries, then another two later in the half. There were also first-half scores for Nathan Mulhall, Jodie Boyd-Ward, Cameron Hills and Halliwell, who kicked two more goals. Nathan Collins, who came on as substitute midway through the first half, added five further conversions.

Collins may have been try-less in the first half, but he made up for that after the break, scoring four and also kicking six goals. Halliwell completed his hat-trick by scoring two more tries, Hills and Norfolk each added another, with Charlie Wagstaff also going over.

EDINBURGH GIANTS fought out a 48-30 victory at SHEFFIELD EAGLES.

It was a tight game throughout, but Edinburgh always held the advantage, thanks to two early tries from Calum Davidson, with Stephen Halsey converting both for a 12-0 lead.

Sheffield got on the board twice before the break, with unconverted scores from Luis Domingos and Chris Haynes, but tries from David Hill, improved by Halsey, and Stuart Williams, gave Edinburgh a 22-8 lead at half-time.

The closest Sheffield got to Edinburgh was in the 69th minute when they pulled the score back to 34-30 thanks to three more tries from Haynes and one from Domingos, with Joe Wink-Simmonds converting three times.

But two tries in the last five minutes secured the points for Edinburgh. Hill and Hamish Douglas had previously increased the Giants’ lead, with Williams and Hill getting the late scores. Halsey kicked five more goals, including a last minute penalty.

In the Championship, there was a worrying postponement, where MIDLANDS HURRICANES were unable to make their match at WAKEFIELD TRINITY for safety reasons.

Already suffering from injuries and bringing in debutants, some of their more experienced players were unavailable due to the ongoing wildfires in the country, which were potentially affecting their homes and left them on evacuation alert.

Regrettably it meant Midlands didn’t have a full starting side and were forced to concede the match. We all hope that they, and everyone else affected by the recent wildfires, remain safe and well.
