Wigan coach Wane coy on link with Brett Ferres

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has seemingly played down any talk linking the club with a sensational swoop for Huddersfield and England forward Brett Ferres.

Ferres, who was transfer-listed by Huddersfield this week after an internal investigation by the Giants, is now available – with interest from both Super League and NRL sides.

But Wane told WiganToday.net that he’s delighted with the squad he’s assembled for 2016 – Wigan have only signed Willie Isa and Sam Tomkins for next season – but stressed that if a player comes onto the market who will improve his side, they will take a look.

The prospect of Ferres going to Wigan though was described as “very unlikely” by the Wigan boss.

“If there’s someone who comes available who can make us better and we can do it, we’ll look at it,” he said.

“But at the moment I’m really happy with what we’ve got.”
