WIGAN WARRIORS centre Molly Jones knows she has returned to action at a tough time of the year, but is excited to be back and playing a role in their bid to retain their Super League title.
Having not played since the the Challenge Cup semi-final victory over York Valkyrie, Jones returned from a knee injury in the first Super Four game after the mid-season split safe in the knowledge that Wigan will have a fight on their hands to lift the Grand Final trophy once again later this month.
“This is what I want to be doing so I’m just happy to be back and excited to finish off the season with the girls,” said Jones, who scored a try against Leeds Rhinos to help confirm Wigan as League Leaders’ Shield winners and Grand Finalists.
“The challenge of the back-to-back games in the Super Four is quite daunting in a way, but I am also really excited for it.
“We just want to keep challenging ourselves, and if we can do that and then retain the title at the end of it, it will be a very special way to back last year up. That’s the goal for us, and we just have to keep working towards that.
“We know we’ve had to step it up this year. We’re the team to beat now and everyone else is hungry to stop us, so it’s going to be a lot harder to stay at the top.
“It’s easier to climb to the top, but a bigger fall back down once you’re there. We don’t want to fall so just have to keep doing what we’re doing to stay up there.”
