WIGAN WARRIORS coach Denis Betts has backed star centre Molly Jones to be on the plane to Australia at the end of the season as part of Stuart Barrow’s England side.
Having missed the Challenge Cup Final in June, as well as the whole of the first half of the league season with a knee injury, Jones returned to action against St Helens in the first round of the Super Four.
She quickly returned to some of her best form, which has helped push her into the top ten following the most recent round of the Woman of Steel voting.
And Betts believes that form will also see her earn a World Cup spot.
“Molly worked so hard to get back into the team and missing the Challenge Cup Final was heartbreaking for her,” explained Betts.
“She’s played so well leading up to that and she really wanted to be in the international squad, so it was really hard for her.
“But she’s come back and slotted straight back in and I’m sure she’ll go on to make it into the England squad.
“She’s really strong defensively, she puts players in for tries and gets tries of her own.
“When she first came back there was times when her timing was a bit rusty, but she’d not played for three months, but we knew that’d come good.”
