Willie Peters gives Mikey Lewis update as Tevita Pangai Jnr debut chance assessed

WILLIE PETERS has revealed Mikey Lewis could play against Wakefield Trinity this weekend, despite suffering an ankle injury early in the first-half of his side’s Challenge Cup Final loss to Wigan Warriors.

Lewis managed to finish the game, but Rovers went down 40-10 as the ailment caused the halfback problems throughout.

That led to some concerns that Lewis would miss the foreseeable future, but it appears as though the England international is in line to play against Wakefield on Saturday.

“He’s (Mikey Lewis) okay, he got through training today,” Peters confirmed.

Meanwhile, Tevita Pangai Jnr could well make his debut for Rovers this weekend following the exit of Jack Brown to Castleford Tigers.

Pangai Jnr has yet to play a game for the Robins since making the switch last month from French rugby league, but Peters has hinted a debut isn’t too far away.

Peters said: “We’ll name Tevita this week and just see whether he’s ready to go, we’ll make a call later in the week.

“He had a bit of a calf issue, we need to see whether he’ll be ready this week or possibly next.”
