Wiper commits to Barrow

Max Wiper has signed a new one-year deal with Barrow.

The centre, great-grandson of Barrow legend Billy Little, has agreed to stay at the club for a fourth season after joining Raiders from Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven in 2013.

Wiper made 14 appearances as Paul Crarey’s side just missed out on the play-offs this year, scoring five tries. He was an ever-present for Barrow in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, however a knee injury restricted his time on the field in the opening two months of this season.

Speaking to the North West Evening Mail, Barrow’s joint director of rugby Mike Sunderland said: “We are very happy that Max has decided to stay. He is a great member of the squad, he puts his heart and soul into every game he plays and we think he is a fantastic addition.

“He’s as great guy and works hard, he never slacks off. We are hoping he won’t repeat last season with injuries and he will be a stable member of the squad.”
