WORKINGTON TOWN upset Wakefield Trinity 24-12 to earn a second promotion in three years and put themselves in the Women’s Championship next season.

Wakefield, previously unbeaten all year, scored first through a Molly Rentika try before Josie Scrimgour and Keeley Chatters hit back for Workington with tries goaled by Leonie Bragg.

Hosts Trinity narrowed the Cumbrians’ half-time lead to 12-8 but Georgia Naylor touched down on the hour and Lexi Hodgson’s full-length try three minutes from time clinched it – Bragg again adding both conversions – despite a final Wakefield score by Lauren Rowan.
