League Express and TotalRL.com understands that details of a revamped World Club Challenge will be announced later this week – either Thursday or Friday, with the competition to be confirmed as expanding to six teams.
It is believed that the winners of the NRL, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos will be the three Australian teams taking part – with another NRL side to step up to the plate if either of those two win the NRL Grand Final.
We understand the qualification criteria for Super League sides is to be revealed later this week, with the Grand Final winners guaranteed to be involved. It is understood that the losing Grand Finalists could also be involved – as well as the highest placed team on the Super League ladder aside from those two.
There will be much more detail on this on TotalRL.com later this week – and of course, in Monday’s edition League Express.
