York take Clare on dual-reg for Swinton game

Castleford coach Daryl Powell has revealed that he’s hoping James Clare will return from his time at York full of confidence.

Clare, who has scored three tries in seven appearances for the Tigers this season, will head to the League 1 club and link up with James Ford’s squad.

Castleford are expected to welcome back Denny Solomona for their game against Catalans, giving Clare an opportunity elsewhere.

Sticks (Clare) didn’t have his best game last week and I’m just looking for him to get the chance to build some confidence,” says Powell.

“This gives him the chance to play and I think that’s important for him.”

“We need to use dual-reg appropriately,” York coach James Ford told the York Press.

“We don’t want to cause disharmony in the camp but at the same time James is a player of outstanding quality and he suits our game-plan and how we’re going to play this weekend.

“I know James well – I coached him in the under-18s at Lock Lane. He’s talented and a great person to have around.”
