Basil Exposition
I doubt very much that we will be going to Oldham tommorow, it's currently two inches deep and still snowing. 2010 - Where it all begins again......
E.S.O
Anyone know what it's like in the NW? Our game must be in doubt already, surely.
Eagleraider
Anyone know what it's like in the NW? Our game must be in doubt already, surely. Its snowing like hell in Barrow, which is a rarity, all roads completely covered and about 3 times as much as there was apparently over Xmas holiday. [i dont know cos I was in sunny warm Florida!!!] Raiders v Keighley called off due to the snow. If it snows here it will be absolutely chucking it down in the rest of Cumbria and Lancashire Edited February 21, 2010 by Eagleraider update Semper In Facaebus Summus Sole Profundum Veriat
aquilla
In-laws live a bit nearer to that part of the world (just over the hills) close to Holmfirth and a similar story there. BBC weather for Bury/Salford suggests freezing overnight which doesn't sound good. There are two rules for success: 1.) Don't tell all you know. Basil Exposition
How can it be on if the weather is like this? Away fans travelling must also be taken into consideration. As it stands I can't get off my drive never mind off my estate. 2010 - Where it all begins again......
Eagleraider
you should know by now, the fans don't count...... think of all those little fellas from the RFL needing to claim their match expenses ... the 2nd income !!!! If there is a delay, the team arrives late, and a team performs badly then it is ... called Halifax !!! As it stands I can't get off my drive never mind off my estate. The Ground Safety Officer has the ultimate control to call the game on or off on grounds of safety - if the ground (ie. the stadium) and land around it is safe to hold the pitch and there is no danger presented to the team travelling, then the game is on. It might be unfortunate that certain spectators cannot get to the game because where they live the weather is bad, but the Ground Safety Officer cannot attend every potential away fans' stret to make a judgement call - they can only go on the information available. Ie. if the main roads are gritted, the motorways are running freely and the car parks, stands, technical areas and public areas of the stadium are safe, then the game (subject to the usual controls over playing surface safety) would be deemed to go ahead by the GSO. martyb62
Could be worse!! You could've booked a ticket for the Crusaders v Hull game at Wrexham priced at 17 quid, (no refunds available) thinking the weather wouldn't be this bad, then find out the game is actually ON but you can't get there as there are no buses. Then find out that Swinton v Widnes and Hull KR v Huddersfield are still on when the buses have started running but it's too late to get there. BLOODY WEATHER, WHEN WILL IT EVER GET ANY BETTER Swinton have some covers for the pitch apparently, so if they lend em to Oldham, our game should be ok. Depends on the snow that is forecast for tomorrow as well... Some games are already scheduled for midweek next week, looks like there'll be a few more. "I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown.
