#2980897 heads screwed on

Posted by oldrover on Today, 10:47 AM

i don't like the way a lot of people are talking as if second place is ours after beating fax. i hope AH is keeping the squads mind on the job. 2 tricky fixtures coming up.

it's an 80 minute game as they say, well done York

#2977682 Hunslet at it again

Posted by oldrover on 15 August 2014 - 01:15 PM

I,ll swear when York played us at home earlier in the season they had a centre who won them the match, who was the spittin image of Jake Webster...

that's correct, and they were pressured by castleford to play him.

#2977561 promotion and relegation

Posted by oldrover on 15 August 2014 - 09:37 AM

i think it's great that p&r have been reintroduced, but, i have been watching champ 1 quite a lot this season, and as the playoffs approach there are indications of panic at some clubs. when York played Gateshead last week, gateshead included  3 superleague players from Hull kr on dual reg. 3 players that played for Hull kr last sunday played for kr against wigan last night. this sunday sees what is probably a title decider between Hunslet and York. Hunslet have signed 3 players on this week for their promotion push. as things stand, as long as they remain under the cap, they are well within their rights. i just hope this does not spiral out of control where cubs feel the need to overspend to compete.in the playoffs. will the rfl be monitoring the situation.?

if the York pack perform like they have these last few weeks they will get on top. 3 of gateshead superleague players that played on sunday, played for hull kr against wigan last night.

#2976341 Hunslet at it again

Posted by oldrover on 13 August 2014 - 09:21 AM

Yep - leave em to it mate - would rather have a settled group of players who have mostly been together for months now at this crucial time of the season - as GT said with Gateshead, we should take it as a compliment that teams feel they need to bring in SL players etc - just hope injuries & other stuff don't c*ck things up for us on Sunday

i think york will win this under the duckworth lose method.

why is it a shame for bradford. they're in a mess of their own making. why is jimmy lowes squealing like a stuck pig. he knew what the situation was before he took the job. shut up and get on with it same as everybody else has to.

#2967671 Next Season

Posted by oldrover on 29 July 2014 - 05:45 PM

getting into superleague will not be easy, nor should it be. we have to raise our standards, not ask superleague to lower theirs.

#2956287 Major new investors

Posted by oldrover on 08 July 2014 - 09:14 AM

Robin, we knew JB was a young untried coach. the idea was he would learn as he went along, and he would have to do it it quickly. some of us accepted that this would mean losing games along the way. but as soon as the losing games came along, some supporters wanted his head on a stick, spouting on about this team winning the league for the last 4 seasons, except itwasn't this team that  won those 4 league titles, it was a new one. would things have improved if he had been given a longer run, i don't know. but we got shut cos it was vital to finish in the top 2. now all of a sudden we are asked to write this season off, and judge AH on next season. it's a funny old world.

#2954412 Fans forum tonight

i hold my hands up. i tend to take people at face value, and i believed what the man was saying. mainly because i so wanted it to be true. i was, and am, convinced that superleague is beyond us without a financial benefactor. which is why i believe that now, we have to set our sights on being a good middle eight team, and our scouting and recruiting should be aimed at that level. Batley and Dewsbury are now the models for us to follow.
