i hold my hands up. i tend to take people at face value, and i believed what the man was saying. mainly because i so wanted it to be true. i was, and am, convinced that superleague is beyond us without a financial benefactor. which is why i believe that now, we have to set our sights on being a good middle eight team, and our scouting and recruiting should be aimed at that level. Batley and Dewsbury are now the models for us to follow.

It was £50,000 for the winners and £30,000 to the runners up. I cannot find prize money for this season.

i agree with what the board are trying to do, ie looking to the near future. easing some of the older end out and bringing younger talent in to carry us through to superleague. but the trouble is we are not replacing with quality atm. it all looks shambolic to me. lets stop this mad dash to sign everybody available, and look at where we are weak and sign top quality in those positions. having seen todays press release i am a little more hopeful. hold on, it's going to be bumpy. but i still love this club UTR

DR players and Loan players, just how will our team mold together if halve of them aren't ours?

the teams gonna have to change anyway if we're gonna get into s/l. we won't get there with the players we've got.

i sat looking around at Batleys ground yesterday, it was bathed in sunshine and looked great. what Batley have done over the last few years whilst still keeping a good competetive side on the pitch, is incredible. they should be very proud.

#2930556 The new Featherstone Rovers Head coach is..............

Posted by oldrover on 16 May 2014 - 07:04 PM

Have Assistant Coaches at NRL clubs not joined clubs outside of SL before? The way that certain people at your club was mouthing off last week, that money was not a problem and you could get anybody you wanted its a strange appointment that you get a coach with no experience as head coach at either SL or Championship level . A person who has never experienced being under pressure as head coach and what is required. Being assistant coach is completely different to being Head Coach.  Also that your last coach, had no experience as a head coach and allegedly wasnt up to it your club then decides to go for somebody from a similar background with no experience is a surprise. Featherstone publically stated last week they expect to be a top SL team in a couple of years and yet within a couple of days of this they are a dual Reg club with Wakefield- there great rivals. Then your club announce a person who has no experience at coaching at that level. Your clubs public statement last week was very positive and brash. The news after, has maybe shown the reality of the situation at Featherstone and that this wild statement last week was a bit foolish. With respect Fev stand little chance of being a top SL club in the next 5 years and the past few days have shown that

thank you for your concern. noted

DR is bad for the game. i was saddened when Barrow adopted it. but they were swimming against the tide. fighting to avoid relegation with one hand tied behind their back. rovers were in a similar situation at the other end of the table. finding it increasingly difficult to stay in the top two, when facing teams with 4 or 5 superleague players in the side.DR is getting lopsided results  and points difference. i can't believe that the rfl have looked at this and decided to keep it next season.

all this wild speculation and people reckoning they know who's got the job, and now it's been delayed for a week so more applicants can be interviewed. so we have to go through it all again for another week.
