  1. What's the capacity of the stadium? I could see a empty seats and plenty of space in the south stand, which if were filled up by people, would've taken the attendance higher. It all looked a lot different to the Friday game against Goole.
  2. When the team got promoted in '23, the club should have done what Donny did and spend a few bob on quality players that would've kept them in that division. Dewsbury could now be lingering in the Sunday morning bus driver's league for ever, and die a slow death until the end.
  3. And the playing surface would look like a muddy dump. Remember when we played up at Batley?
  4. You've got it the wrong way round (so have the club as well) I do like them though. Dewsbury should always play in the traditional, striped jersey, always!
  5. It's actually 999 years. We might have an A team running by the end of the lease.
  6. Dewsbury Moor v Mirfield in the Heavy Woollen Sunday morning cup, on Easter Sunday 1980, was the first game that I saw at the old ground. Dewsbury v Warrington in the Challenge Cup in 1981 was the first time I saw pro Rugby at the ground. May 1988 was the first time that I played there in the H V Smith 7 a side tournament. The changing rooms were shocking!
  7. It's what's called being financially illiterate. The clubs should be looking for a good chartered accountant, instead of marquee player, who's looking to fill his boots.
  8. In the modern game, most of the players who come and go within the semi pro circuit are through an agent.
  9. I wonder if Dewsbury are in a worse position now, to what they were, back in the early 80's? They were in a dilapidated ground, had financial issues, with a team that was not very good/competitive and basically, as a club were going nowhere! On a side issue, I see that Oldham have been promoted and are looking to sign some quality players for next season. They've not got their mojo back in big way. It's not all doom and gloom in the Championship.
  10. If there is a good attendance on Sunday, one thing that is certain, is that it will be a very long time into the future before there is another sizeable crowd watching Dewsbury at that ground. "Make the most of every penny that you can on Sunday". That's my message to the owners of the club.
  11. Bills need paying! Players and staff need paying! Insurance needs paying! Stadium needs maintaining! Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc!
  12. I was watching Sam Day play for Westgate last Saturday. I'm sure he could still do a job for us.
  13. You need to join the board of directors at Dewsbury. I'm not being sarcastic here. Your business acumen sounds just like what we need.
  14. I think it was about this time last year, when Whitehaven announced that they were one week away from going pear shaped, and needed help asap. They've not done too badly since. Maybe we should try the same
  15. How many games has Fergie actually played for Dewsbury?
