  1. Before we get into a run of 'hard lines lads' performances. We were never going to win the Challenge Cup, didn't really matter whether we got to Wembley in the 1895 as there's no financial benefit but the league is a different animal, our bread-and-butter. After a very successful run over the last 3 seasons we're still skint and can't attract players so a lower league placing isn't going to help for the future.
  2. Agree KTF! We're so pleased to have the great write-ups, good progress in 1895, the beating of Widnes, the performance v Cas, forgetting that we threw the Fev league game then just didn't turn up at Friday's party. The squad wasn't strengthened enough to cover what we lost, some who were expected to be squad members and gain experience were thrown in to first 17 places, trialists like Rhodes (is he still with us? Big lad) get 1 game. If we're so seriously short of money it's not going to get better and regular fans have done all they can, buying every ticket we're asked to, attend here and there at functions, concerts. We can't do any more, so where do we go?
  3. Mitsias is a winger more than a centre, JBurton is a centre more than a winger, Kear isn't a winger, played most of his career AND INTERNATIONALLY as a centre. Mitsias isn't the only one left wondering why he was brought over either. It's OK saying that we'll need all the squad at sometime, Mitsias will be better in dry weather (when's that going to be then?) etc etc by which time it'll be too late for digging us out of a downward battle. We can't use hard games v Fev n Cas as an excuse either, they should have battle-hardened us, not exposed an underbelly. Players need a time together on Tuesday to sort this between themselves, it's gard enough going to Halifax on the back of a win; going when you've just been spanked, well....
  4. Was it JoeB who scored? Who missed tge kick, I'd walked by then....BTW KTF Dave Gibbons made 1 mistake in passing to Whiteley and his dad being a coach proves what, exactly? He's the only other halfback we have, so if one goes down who else steps in? My other 'favourite' Elliot Kear was IMO one of our e vest players today, caught every ball, drove it back well, tried valiantly to look fir and made the only half break we had. The absence of Butterworth is open to varying degrees of conjecture (add to that the same about our International) but someone has to play #1 and Kear did it as well as anyone.
  5. Purely on effort and interest, Joe Burton Elliott Kear Mr. Nobody.
  6. Listless, leaderless. Poor all round. First time since Adam were a lad I've left a game early. If the BoD and coaching staff are still convinced that we're strong enough and deep enough not to require loanees they're watching a different team to many around me. Great, we put up a show against Cas! That's gone and we're fighting for a place at the top table again. As we are just now we're sitting firmly in the servants' quarters. Dewsbury clattered us, defended superbly but didn't really find themselves with too much to defend in all honesty and put together better attacking moves than us.
  7. Having said what I said about being OK, can we really only raise 20? We hear nothing about injuries other than what we see and hear from talking to players. Blake, Johnson, is Rhodes still at the club, Chitakunye we know had a leg brace on, Flynn? Hope our running a small squad isn't going to bite our behinds. So much for Cas's aid.
  8. DF I reckon those hard games will have done us more good than harm, pulled us together as an outfit. We've got away lightly with injuries and I understand there was a bit of illness around the squad pre Cas. Dave Gibbons has slotted in well; as I've said somewhere he's a different type of player to Woods. Woods is a great organiser, very vocal, has a great pass on him but Gibbons is more of an up and at 'em player, I mean when BenW made that break at Widnes, I doubt Woods would have followed him as there was every likelihood of the tackle being made but Gibbons stuck with it. There are experienced, capable heads (Kear, Brown, Blake,) and young Rhodes pushing the others to keep their performance up. We'll be right on Friday.
  9. These Giants are only men, NOT GIANTS! Man on man is where it matters. We matched Fev, we weren't overrun by Cas, why will, if all 3 play, they help Rams overrun us? Players rarely walk in to a new team, know the systems and blow opponents off the field. We're as tight and spirited again, players who have had to come in (Gibbons for Woods eg) are putting their stamp on games and those getting picked regularly are being picked regularly because of others in the squad forcing them to play well enough to get picked. This is ours 12+ points.
  10. Current totals after Featherstone league game. Woods. 7pts Flynn. 7pts Walshaw. 6pts White. 5pts Burton J. 3pts Manning. 2pts Butterworth 2pts Morton. 2pts Moore. 2pts Gledhill. 1pt.
  11. Any attendance figures/estimates?
  12. Away ftom the website (we've exhausted complaining about it, it resurrects beginning of each pre-season then blows up and leaves enthusiastic people like Mark Atack, a GIANTS FAN, to keep the club in view), from twitter feeds it seems that we again failed to deal with a high kick and gave 6 points away then conceded last tackle before the break..traits week on week, 10 points, pfht, gone. Did I expect an upset, I'm not too sure I did, did I get excited at 8-0 and 14-10, not sure I did then either but last week and this the term has been 'valiant' when last week the term should have been 'victors', this week could gave been 'Tigers sneak through' but I think we've let ourselves down a bit in both games. 1 league game loss might not matter in the scheme of things but regular errors will.
  13. So, we still haven't heard officially from the club! That's what galls people the most, not just me. It can be like the Secret Service at times. MOSSAD can't hold a candle to us....
  14. Well I was there at the bar when Kev did the team rundown then took a teamsheet ftom his hand and I didn't hear anything about the draw, nor have I seen a fb post about it nor is it anywhere on club publicity. I would rather it have been left until Easter and the winner have the opportunity to win the expected and promised prize, why did it need to be rushed?
