Aberdeen Warriors looking for Fixtures in 2016

Recommended Posts

Aberdeen Warriors are looking for fixtures in the 2016 season both home and away.

Our aim is to play teams from the NCL to help us develop our players, coaches and our club. To date we have played Pilkington Recs and Skirlaugh in the Challenge Cup round 1 in 2014 and 2015, we have also played a Siddle Select side under the banner of the Scotland RL Club XIII where we have been able to compete however we need more games like this to help us to improve further. We have also played against the British Army 1st XIII and Academy side who have confirmed fixtures with us in 2016.

We have been confirmed into the 2016 Challenge Cup Round 1 so we may meet one of your clubs in there.

We are primarily looking for games from April through to September however we may be able to move things about.

We would like to invite Clubs up to Aberdeen where we will host you for the weekend and we will be able to assist on looking for accommodation. We are also more than happy to travel but will have to pay attention as to take our boys away for a weekend could be in the region of £3500 for a weekend trip (coach and accommodation) of which we are budgeting for a few trips in 2016.

As a Club we need to test our players against the best clubs in the UK which will enable us to build the sport in Scotland.

If you would like to help us out please contact Craig Parslow on the following details:

Email: headcoach@aberdeenwarriors.com

Phone: 07769315500

Facebook: Aberdeen Rugby League

Twitter: AberdeenWarrior

We very much look forward to hearing from you and thank you for considering our club.

Regards

Craig Parslow

Chairman and Heach Coach

Aberdeen Warriors Rugby League.

Hi,just a thought and I fully appreciate the difficulties of the distances involved but just wondered if it might be worth trying to arrange a game against a north east England club, over the MM weekend in Newcastle? Otherwise,as I suggested to the chap from Ireland who was looking for games, maybe an idea to get in touch with the student/universities rl to pick up an odd game.Do any Scottish Universities/Colleges play rl?

There are no uni's etc in Scotland Playing the game at the moment. We have contacted the NE league to see if we can get some games.

We will keep asking about with some clubs. We might be getting a game against Halifax side Stainland Stags as we have started building a good partnership in Halifax with them and Siddle who hosted the Club XIII this year.

Why don't you contact Manchester Rangers RLFC about Aberdeen Warriors entering a 'Nines' team at next years "Manchester Nines" tournament.

This would be a great way for your club to make many new contacts, and also promote Scottish Rugby League.

Aye, Manc's suggestion might be a good shout for the moment - playing in festivals etc might be the best way of keeping the squad engaged, possibly doing something like a full game on a Friday night, then a day of nines to follow.

They held the last 'Manchester Nines' on the Friday night before the Grand Final. Sonif they have the date in 2016? Aberdeen could make a weekend of it with a trip to Old Trafford.

But I'm sure if Aberdeen did come down for the Nines?....Full 13 a side RL games could also be arranged with local amateur clubs.

You need to email or phone: Phil Fitton (The Chairman) about possible entry into the "Manchester Nines" I'm only a mere supporter. But he's very approachable.

Here are the contacts at Rangers.

Hi,please we've generated some ideas/contacts.

You might care to look at a thread on The General Rugby League Forum, started on 26 Oct by Anmhiabu, headed,'Longhorns academy Ireland looking for opposition',as there were a few ideas on that thread.Specifically,Lional Hurst at Gloucester All Golds might be a very good contact, lhurst@glos.ac.uk

Don't forget the Cumbrian teams.Certainly, anyone fancying a long weekend tour, could do alot worse than visit Aberdeen. These 9's tournaments seem a good way of making contacts - is there still a York Nines event?

Try and get John Drake to do a little article on you.
