There are loads of examples of clubs we should have more of in the North and elsewhere.
We have failed to build a pyramid for those clubs to sit in (because that needs growth). This has meant that where in other sports a club may fall to a 4th, 5th or even lower tier from the top, it still had a place it could exist in. We have mismanaged and poorly planned our lower divisions for decades now.
The North of England should be an absolute hotbed. Bramley, Brighouse, Broughton (Manchester), Blackpool, Huyton, Scarborough, Carlisle, and the rest should all be places where we have "pro" clubs that exist.
Perhaps we need our SL clubs, instead of adopting a Championship club and turning them into their reserves, to set up these new teams and use them for this reason. Make the top of RL give back to the bottom of pro RL by tying it financially to it.
