  1. There are loads of examples of clubs we should have more of in the North and elsewhere. We have failed to build a pyramid for those clubs to sit in (because that needs growth). This has meant that where in other sports a club may fall to a 4th, 5th or even lower tier from the top, it still had a place it could exist in. We have mismanaged and poorly planned our lower divisions for decades now. The North of England should be an absolute hotbed. Bramley, Brighouse, Broughton (Manchester), Blackpool, Huyton, Scarborough, Carlisle, and the rest should all be places where we have "pro" clubs that exist. Perhaps we need our SL clubs, instead of adopting a Championship club and turning them into their reserves, to set up these new teams and use them for this reason. Make the top of RL give back to the bottom of pro RL by tying it financially to it.
  2. I think they are excuses tbh. Perfectly valid excuses mind, but ultimately if someone says I don't want to take the time or its not convenient for them, whilst they can afford to go, they just don't want to go enough. Fixture fatigue (I know Man City have noted this with numerous trips to Wembley recently - is it double figures now in 4 years or something) is also a thing. Not being able to get time off work is perhaps the only factor, though for most people, weekends are not part of the working week. Nevertheless, if you want to go watch your team, can afford to do so and are not supposed to be elsewhere, and don't, its because you don't want to go enough.
  3. Yep, very poor indictment of the quality of the League as a whole I think it is fair to say.
  4. I think there may well be an element of that.
  5. I think you overestimate how many games are now actually subject to the 3pm blackout (especially in the Premier League) plus the prevalence of Firesticks to watch those 3pm games via "alternative methods". Take Leeds as a barometer, 6 games out of 38 kicking off at 1500 on a Saturday. The irony of saying it is relegated to cup competitions when it is the method used in the Champions League to decide the best club in Europe...
  6. With the greatest of respect, how many people do you think are watching 3 to 4 Premier League games a week?
  7. 1. Davy is willing to put the money in. This is what most fans that are bitter about Huddersfield are envious of. Without him they would have relegated several times but he can compensate for a 4 or even 5 figure number of paying punters. 2. The ground. Huddersfield won't be at that stadium next year. Whether it ends up being in Halifax or Dewsbury before returning to Huddersfield who knows, but that mostly empty millstone around their necks will be gone and hopefully they can generate some atmosphere.
  8. That's most teams at the top this year tbf.
  9. Just a thing on captains challenge, is there a time limit on when you can do it? Seemed like sometimes players watched the big screen then challenged tonight?
  10. Poor away from home again. Not a great advert for Super League that I don't think.
  11. Because that call at the other end was wrong.
  12. Because the ref is making up for his mistake down the other end a minute earlier.
