4N win would give England a boost, says Tomkins

England full-back Sam Tomkins believes that success for the nation in this year’s Four Nations tournament could lay a huge platform for years to come, and give Rugby League in this country an enormous shot in the arm.

Tomkins, who has just finished his first season with NRL side New Zealand Warriors, believes that if England can triumph in the four-team tournament over the coming weeks, it would do wonders for the game in his homeland.

The 25-year-old also insisted that Steve McNamara’s side have everything at their disposal to win the tournament – and it is now up to the players to deliver when it really matters, after last year’s heartbreaking semi-final exit in the World Cup.

“We’ve got everything we need to go there and win, it’s down to the players to perform,” said NRL-based Tomkins.

“A win in this Four Nations would give English rugby league a boost it needs.”
