The NRL have announced they are to consider outlawing all lifting tackles in an attempt to prevent accidents like the one that looks to have ended the career of Newcastle Knights forward Alex McKinnon.
The 22-year-old has been in hospital for a fortnight after landing on his head in a tragic three-man tackle featuring Jordan McLean and Bromwich brothers Jesse and Kenny. He broke two parts of his vertebrae and was put into an induced coma. He has since regained consciousness but is unable to move all but one of his limbs.
