Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell believes Leeds Rhinos full-back Zak Hardaker will challenge Sam Tomkins for England’s number one spot.
The 22-year-old is widely considered to be Super League’s best player on current form. He’s scored six tries, eight goals, made seven assists and 1,696 metres – more than anyone else in the competition.
Tigers boss Powell, who coached Hardaker in his time at Featherstone Rovers, said: “He’s a special player. He’s got so much pace, he has instincts as a Rugby League player.
“He has so much going for him that he really will challenge Sam for the number spot.”
Rhinos team-mate Jamie Peacock has also heaped praise on Hardaker recently.
