Salford will not appeal Chase suspension

Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has revealed that there are no plans for the club to appeal against either Rangi Chase or Weller Hauraki’s suspensions they received on Wednesday night.

Hauraki was hit with a four-match suspension by the RFL, while Chase was banned for seven games following a dangerous tackle on Huddersfield’s Brett Ferres.

However, speaking in his column with the Manchester Evening News, Koukash says that using suspensions as an excuse is “weak”, and there are no plans to appeal either ban.

He said: “Seeing Rangi Chase banned for seven games and having Weller Hauraki banned for four matches is very disappointing but there will be no appeal by us.

“We are going to battle on. We will not use suspensions and injury as an excuse – the weak do this and there will be a strong siege mentality from Salford.”
