Coroner rules referee’s death as suicide

A coroner has ruled that the death of Rugby League referee Chris Leatherbarrow was suicide.

Leatherbarrow, the popular referee, was found hanged at his home on November 1 2015.

Hundreds from the Rugby League community attended his funeral, with his death causing great sadness across the game.

He had one child, Daisy, with his family describing him as a ‘devoted dad’.
