KR wait on Campese

Terry Campese’s return to action has been brought to an abrupt end, just one game into his comeback.

The Australian halfback played his first game in nine months on Sunday in Rovers’ defeat to Huddersfield. However, his return lasted just 42 minutes before he went off with a hamstring complaint.

After KR’s defeat, which moved them to the bottom of Super League, new head coach James Webster admitted he is set for more time on the sidelines.

“It’s a hamstring issue,” said Webster.

“Whilst we’re disappointed he’s going to miss some time, it’s good it’s not the knee again. Like all soft tissue injuries it’s hard to tell, but he’ll definitely have some more time out now.

“We’ll know more Tuesday or Wednesday.”

In a further blow, Shaun Lunt could also miss Sunday’s match with Salford due to a calf strain sustained on his first appearance of the season.

“He’s nowhere near as bad as Terry, but whether Shaun will be right for next week we won’t know,” said Webster.
