Hull KR lose Green

Hull Kingston Rovers have received a big blow ahead of the Qualifiers, with James Green ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old forward dislocated his AC joint in Hull KR’s Super League defeat to Leeds Rhinos, with tests eventually showing that he would require an operation. Green has now gone through successful surgery, with the club hoping he will be ready for the start of the 2017 season.

“This is disappointing news for the club and an unfortunate blow for James, who had just made his return to the side from suspension and was looking forward to making a positive impact in the final seven rounds of the season,” said Head of Rugby Jamie Peacock.

“The brighter news is that we are expecting to have a number of players who missed that game against Leeds back in contention for Sunday’s game against Batley Bulldogs. Aside from our long-term injuries, we have a reasonably healthy squad to select from and that’s important going into a crucial period of the season.

“We are well-stocked in the front row to cover James’ absence with the likes of Adam Walker, Dane Tilse, Mitch Allgood, Robbie Mulhern and Kieran Moran all available, and we have some other back rowers who are more than capable of doing a job for us through the middle if required.

“We’ve had more than our fair share of injuries this season but we have a positive group of players and coaching staff who will ensure all our attention is focused on these next seven matches and securing our place in Super League next season with the people we have available.”
