Hull KR sign Harvey Horne to new deal

HULL KR coach Willie Peters sees a red-and-white future for young talent Harvey Horne.

The son of former Rovers centre or second row Graeme Horne, the fullback or winger has signed a contract extension to 2027 after impressing in the club’s development system and in loan appearances for Championship sides Doncaster, where his uncle Richard Horne is coach, and Sheffield.

Horne, who turns 20 on Sunday, is excited by the challenge of trying to cement a first-team spot at the progressive club.

“I’ve been here since Scholarship, and it’s great to stay with the club,” said the former Skirlaugh Bulls junior.

“It’s a good place to be at the moment with the group we have and the team winning the Challenge Cup. My aim is to push for selection this season and next year.”

Horne feels his second-tier experience will help him in his quest, explaining: “Most young players need games in the Championship before they step up to Super League. It was a good test for me.

“Being coached by my uncle at Doncaster was a bit unusual, but it was a great experience, and at Sheffield all the lads were really helpful and the game time was good for my development.”

Peters said: “Harvey’s new extension is thoroughly deserved. He’s worked hard to continue his development and improve over the last year.

“We’re looking forward to him continuing his development over the next few seasons to put himself in a position to play for the first team.”
