Brad Arthur explains new Leeds Rhinos signing and if more recruits will follow

BRAD ARTHUR has explained that he sees new signing Joe Shorrocks as a “middle” player following his loan move from Salford Red Devils.

Shorrocks has made the short-term move to Headingley after a number of painful months at financially troubled Salford, swelling the ranks at Leeds and giving Arthur a selection headache.

The former Wigan Warriors academy graduate can play in a number of positions, including loose-forward, back-rower and hooker, and Arthur has explained where Shorrocks fits into his thinking.

“I see Joe playing somewhere in the middle, he competes hard and can play a number of roles,” Arthur said.

“He has come here looking for a chance and when you get a few troops back it builds that healthy competition for spots when everyone is trying to train and play their best.

“But I won’t be playing him this week (against Hull KR on Thursday), he has trained today.”

The Leeds boss was also asked about any other potential signings before the transfer deadline next week.

He said: “I doubt there will be any new signings but never say never.

“At the moment, though, I wouldn’t think so.”
