BRADFORD BULLS have signed former Samoa forward Zane Musgrove after his departure from Championship rivals Oldham.
The 29-year-old New Zealand-born ex-NRL and Warrington player has agreed a contract at Bartercard Odsal to the end of the season.
His arrival bolsters Bradford’s bid for play-off success as the club set out their stall for Super League inclusion in 2026.
Musgrove was a high-profile Oldham recruit from Warrington in May, agreeing a contract to the end of next season.
However the former South Sydney Rabbitohs, Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra Dragons player made only three appearances before being handed an eight-match suspension for the use of unacceptable language during a match while still a Wolves player.
Oldham said simply: “We can confirm Zane Musgrove has left the club. We thank him for his efforts in an Oldham shirt.”
Bradford coach Brian Noble said: “He’s played at the highest level in Australia, he’s played at a high level with Warrington in Super League and I think for the run-in he has backed himself and wants a chance with us.
“It’s important that we maintain the pressure for positions, places and performances.
“Zane goes by the same rules as everyone. If he’s not up to speed, then he won’t play.
“I know he’s a good person who will bring energy. I think he likes what he has seen at Bradford, he’s as content with us as the other way round. And I think he understands the nature of our field. He could be quite dynamic.”
Musgrove said: “From what I’ve seen having played against Bradford with Oldham and how they go about their business, especially the forwards, I’m happy to be part of that pack and to add to it.
“I’ve caught up with Brian Noble and he’s obviously got big ambitions for the club so I am extremely excited for that and the challenge ahead.
“It sounds like a really tight-knit group. There are some boys from the NRL I have played against so there is a good mixture of lads and I am looking forward to building relationships and getting stuck in.
“It’s been an up-and-down year for me. I’ve got a few games to get right and then it’s into the finals, which is the business time. I’m just looking to finish the season on a high.”
