CATALANS DRAGONS are being joined in pre-season by a standout prospect from their reserve team.
There are plenty of new faces at the club for next season, with 11 signings recruited to engineer a turnaround from this year’s ninth-placed finish.
And it’s become a round dozen of new faces in the first team with Alexis Lis training as part of the senior group since their return on Monday.
The young prop only joined the Dragons in the summer from Avignon but has impressed for their reserve team, St Estève XIII Catalan, who play in the French domestic top division, Super XIII.
A French Under-19 international, Lis has a two-year deal with the club as a reserve player but is now being touted as a Super League prospect.
He’s already been given the thumbs-up by two Dragons greats of yesteryear in Thomas Bosc, their top points-scorer who now heads the youth set-up, and Challenge Cup-winning captain Rémi Casty, who coaches both St Estève XIII Catalan and the French Under-19s.
Catalans head coach Joel Tomkins said: “After being impressed with Alexis during his games for the reserve team and consulting Thomas Bosc and Rémi Casty about his development and potential, we have decided to add him to our Super League squad for 2026.
“I feel that Alexis has the right attitude and attributes to become an extremely high-quality Super League player.
“He has fitted in well with the group already in the first few days of pre-season and we are excited to see what he and the rest of the young French players in the squad can achieve this season.”
