BARROW RAIDERS coach Paul Crarey senses a Challenge Cup opportunity after his side booked a tie against York with a professional performance at Wigan St Judes.
The Raiders will now welcome the Knights in the third round, just days before their big Super League opener at home to reigning champions Hull KR.
Before then, Barrow host Salford in the league on Saturday and will have to wait on injury updates on stand-off Ryan Johnston (groin), prop Joe Bullock (knee) and winger Andrew Bulman (unspecified), after the trio were all forced from the field in the 76-4 win against Judes.
That meant Barrow had to play the whole second half with just one option on the interchange bench.
Crarey said: “We were great, very clinical. We conceded one try off a kick when we were changing things round. We scored some nice tries. Our main focus at half-time was to get through with no more injuries.
“We’ve earned the right to go up against York. We’ve got Salford first, so we’ve got to look after that game and see what we can put out on the field.
“We didn’t concede any tries last week (in the 40-0 home win over Workington) and let in just one in the cup, and that’s more promising than the points we’ve scored, as we’ll always score points with the personnel we’ve got.
“We’re looking forward to being at home, first against Salford and then York. It’s a short turnaround for York, so we’ve definitely got a chance and we’ve got to be ready for them in front of a big crowd here.”
