Brad Arthur furious with Leeds Rhinos after ‘reality check’

FUMING Brad Arthur said Leeds Rhinos’ lack of discipline was “embarrassing” as they suffered a “reality check” at Hull FC.

A 24-16 loss was only their second Super League defeat of the season.

But they conceded a raft of penalties and set restarts in an error-ridden display where they were kept scoreless in the second period.

On the back of a Challenge Cup exit at Wakefield Trinity as well, it was a long way from their Las Vegas thumping of champions Hull KR.

Boss Arthur – whose son Jake scored a try for Hull – admitted: “It’s a bit of a reality check.

“We’re not going as good as we think we are.

“Some of that ill-discipline is not what we want the club to be a part of.

“Some of the discipline was pretty embarrassing in that second half; people were more bothered about backchatting the referee than playing.”

Asked if it had shocked him, Arthur added: “Yes. And it’s really disappointed me. I’ve said just that to them.

“I need to get to the bottom of it. It was nothing we practiced and said we want to be over these last two weeks.

“We were in Vegas. So what? We got ahead of ourselves.

“It’s my job to now fix it. It’s round five so there’s plenty of time but we can’t be playing like that.”

Leeds winger Ryan Hall was missing due to a knee injury which required an injection.
