Brett Ferres sends message to ‘inconsistent’ Goole Vikings

GOOLE VIKINGS backrow Brett Ferres is urging his teammates to “knuckle down” and meet the new challenges of the merged second tier head-on.

Scott Taylor’s side finished seventh out of ten in the old League One last year, the club’s first in the professional ranks.

Now they are taking on the likes of London Broncos, Batley, Doncaster and Widnes, and testimonial man Ferres knows that’s a tough ask.

“We’ve been too inconsistent,” said the former Super League and England player who joined from Doncaster when Goole were elevated from the amateur ranks.

“We are certainly working hard to put things right and there are still lots of games to go and lots of points to play for.

“We have shown that when we focus on those small details and take control, then we can be a real threat.

“It’s now up to us to keep knuckling down, keep working hard and make sure what we’re doing on the training pitch transfers into games.”
