Andy Last laments errors and decisions after Hull FC derby loss

HULL FC head coach Andy Last cut a frustrated figure after the 26-12 loss to Hull KR at Magic Weekend.

Last said: “It was a frustrating afternoon for us. Hull KR started the game better and we gave them position through some ill discipline but in the second half we straightened it out and it put us in the ascendency.

“We got some repeat sets but I thought a couple of key moments went against us. Lennon Clark was pulled back by Peta Hiku but we weren’t given a penalty or six again.

“The game swung with the error from Lewis Martin (leading to Jai Whitbread’s go-ahead try). Credit to Hull KR, they are a good side, but some key moments went against us.

“We spoke about fixing up our yardage and kick plays and we did that a lot better in the second half. Rovers had to put in a good shift to stop us scoring points.”

Hull FC’s Jake Arthur was given the official man of the match award and Last said: “Jake’s form in the last two months has been good.

“He is finding his voice, he kicks the ball well and his temperament’s good.”
