JOHN CARTWRIGHT was disappointed with the way his Catalans Dragons side defended in the 60-18 defeat to Toulouse Olympique.
“We weren’t in it from the opening whistle,” said the coach.
“I’m really disappointed with our commitment. We were in front there at one stage but I never felt comfortable.
“They (Toulouse) were just easing their way downfield. The obvious threat was Olly Ashall-Bott and we did plenty of work and spoke about him all week but his first touch of the ball I think he beat two or three tackles and he continued to do it all night.
“It (the result) is out of the blue – I thought we’d been competing pretty well over the last five-to-six weeks, but this is a real punch in the face.
“We’ve got to win games (if we’re going to make the top six). We’re playing the league leaders (Leeds Rhinos) next week. When things like tonight happen to you – and it’s happened to all of us at some stage – it’s a mark of the man what he does when he comes back.
“There’s not much point talking about where we went wrong because we were wrong pretty much from the time we got on the bus until the whistle blew at the end.
“We’re not going to fix all that in a week, so it’s about pride and ‘manning up’.”
