DARYL POWELL raved about his side’s performance in Wakefield Trinity’s 48-6 win over Castleford Tigers.
Trinity were by far the better side throughout the 80 minutes as they recorded their biggest ever win against their local rivals and coach Powell was enthused by what he saw.
“We were dominant, we started great and I thought at 10-0 we should have been 20 points up,” Powell said.
“I’m really pleased, defensively we were excellent for pretty much all of the game and we looked sharp with the ball.
“I felt like everyone in the team played well and I’m not sure we have had that this year yet.
“I thought we were consistent across the board, we got our preparation right.”
Powell did explain that his side conceding six points was his fault.
“We would have gone second (in the table, above Warrington) if we had scored again so I take responsibility for those points scored against us.
“I thought it was a poor message to give the boys but it is what it is.”
The Wakefield boss also believes that bigger challenges await Trinity.
“I’m not disrespecting Cas, but we need to be consistent against the better teams,” he added.
“I challenged the boys to have the best performance of the round in this type of arena to put a marker down for the way we want to play.
“And I thought we did that today.”
