LONDON BRONCOS coach Jason Demetriou believes Gairo Voro has a big future in Rugby League after etching his name into the history books last Saturday.
The Papua New Guinea halfback crossed for a club record seven tries in the 78-16 rout of Hunslet, two more than the previous record, jointly held by three players.
He also added eight goals in the 14-try display for a 44-point individual contribution, surpassing the record of 42 points set by teammate James Meadows earlier this season.
Championship leaders London, who have an impeccable record from their 16 matches thus far, also passed 1,000 points scored for the season in the fixture, held at Ebbsfleet’s Kuflink Stadium.
“I just think he’s really comfortable at the moment,” Demetriou told club media of PNG Chiefs-bound Voro, who’s record haul moved him onto 18 tries this season.
“He’s getting really comfortable in the position that he’s playing in, and the weather’s got hotter – there’s more space, the grounds are getting faster – and I said in pre-season that these guys will come into their own when the grounds firm up.
“His speed, anticipation and support play is outstanding.”
And the Broncos boss believes this is just the start for the 23-year-old stand-off.
He admitted: “I’m really excited about where he’s going, Gairo.
“I think he’s got a big future in the game, and his ability to want to learn; he’s very humble with his footy and he’s always trying to learn.
“His transition over here has been first class, and even with his English speaking, he’s always trying to get better at that.
“Luckily he scored seven tries, so he’s been able to beat the record.”
