Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam keen on Kai O’Donnell reunion

ADRIAN LAM has admitted he is interested in bringing former Leigh Leopards forward Kai O’Donnell back to the club.

O’Donnell, who joined the North Queensland Cowboys ahead of the 2025 NRL season, is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to the Super League competition, having joined Leigh during the 2022 Championship promotion season (when they were named Centurions).

O’Donnell helped the Leopards to Challenge Cup success in 2023 and went on to register 31 tries in 77 appearances over the course of three seasons.

The back-rower then returned to the NRL – having started his career with Canberra Raiders in 2020 –  with the Cowboys in 2025 and has gone on to make 23 appearances for North Queensland so far.

And Lam would be keen to bring O’Donnell back to the club – if he doesn’t find another NRL team.

“I think anyone that is out of contract and is available is linked to Leigh Leopards,” he joked.

“Having been part of our winning Challenge Cup team and being close friends with a lot of our players, it would be great to have Kai here.

“But, until that comes up, there are opportunities for him in the NRL. If there is a chance for him to come to Super League, then hopefully we could make it happen.

“Our owner Derek Beaumont is a big fan, our fans love him, and I think he is the ultimate professional.

“Out of all the players we’ve lost in the last few years, he is at the top of the list of those we would bring back.

“We certainly wouldn’t miss out on talking to him.”
