BRADFORD BULLS head coach Kurt Haggerty has hailed Ethan Ryan following his 200th career appearance.
Ryan, who has been a crucial figure in the Bulls’ maiden season back in Super League in 2026, registered 200 not out against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday, scoring one of the Bulls’ two tries in a 42-12 defeat.
The 30-year-old began his career with Bradford, who gave him his debut in 2016, going on to make 101 appearances for the West Yorkshire club until departing for Hull KR in 2020.
Another 22 tries in 43 appearances followed before Ryan moved on to pastures new with Salford Red Devils, where he registered a further nine tries in 31 appearances, until a reunion with Bradford loomed ahead of their first season back in the top flight for over a decade.
The two-time Irish international is well-known for his flying finishes, but Haggerty believes it’s his defensive work and toughness that sets Ryan apart.
“Overall, Ethan has been fantastic,” the head coach enthused.
“What we’ve found from him this year, he has fallen into a senior player role so he has really matured.
“He has shown leadership within the group which has also helped him with his game.
“We all know he is a fantastic winger with the way he finishes tries, but the way he defends systematically, he is a lot tougher than what he gets credit for.”
“He is very important to our group and we are lucky to have him here.”
