Bradford Bulls to re-focus for second season

BRADFORD BULLS chief executive Jason Hirst has explained how the club’s priorities will change heading into 2027.

From stabilising the club off the field to then targeting a return to Super League, Hirst has been at the forefront of the Bulls’ revival.

In 2026, following twelve years of hurt, Bradford returned to the top flight after earning a place in the top twelve of the club gradings.

With a score of 14.81, the Bulls actually finished tenth on the rankings but ended up finishing bottom of the Super League ladder with just seven wins.

In the latest rankings they fell one place and saw their score reduced to 13.93, still comfortably retaining their Super League status.

With the club in a good place off the field, Hirst has now confirmed that the Bulls’ number-one aim will now to be strengthen the on-field side.

“The first phase of my job was to seek additional investment to stabilise the club off the field of play, whilst improving on-field performance,” Hirst said.

“Once we’d successfully achieved that, we set about phase two, targeting a return to Super League at the earliest opportunity, something that many thought was beyond us.

“Phase three was year one in Super League. That now takes us to the here and now and phase four, which is to build upon the many solid foundations we have put in place off the field, to improve on the field.

“That’s why, unlike the last two years, where we had to primarily target and spend on off-field improvements to return to and stabilise in Super League, we are now prioritising on-field strengthening and improvement.

“That includes a significant increased investment in our Elite Academy, as we recognise its importance to our club and our fans, evidenced by us currently having ten homegrown players in our 2027 first-team squad.

“We have started to do that with seven newly announced signings (including the permanent signing of Jack Ormondroyd) with more to come.”
