CASTLEFORD TIGERS’ recruitment for 2027 is still ongoing, head coach Ryan Carr has confirmed.
With the likes of St George Illawarra Dragons trio Damien Cook, Tyrell Sloan and Mat Feagai joining the Tigers, alongside Leigh Leopards pair Ben McNamara and Robbie Mulhern, the Tigers have been one of the most active and aggressive in the transfer market for next season and beyond.
At times during the 2026 Super League season, Carr has had to swap and change with a number of loan recruits, and he is determined for that to change in the future – with more signings in the pipeline for next season, despite the plethora of new additions.
“There are a couple of spots to be filled,” Carr said.
“We are playing with five in the current 17-man squad that joined us midway through the year.
“We have also had multiple loans we have had to use to get through this year.
“We want to be in a position of strength in numbers. If someone is out we want to have really good players coming in.
“That’s what all the good teams at the top of the table have.”
Among those mid-season recruits, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, Tyler Dupree and Jack Brown have impressed in recent weeks.
And Carr can’t wait to see what the trio can do with a full pre-season at Castleford under their belts.
“They’ve bought in really well, but it’s easier said than done coming into a new team after they’ve done a different pre-season and had a whole new system to learn.
“What we’re seeing right now is really good and I’m excited, but there is still so much growth to come with more recruits coming in and a full pre-season.
“It’s good to know where they are at now and I’m looking forward to see how good they can get in the next 18 months or so.”
