Toulouse Olympique ‘confident’ of Super League place in 2027

TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE chief executive Cedric Garcia has full confidence that the French club will remain in Super League next year.

Toulouse, alongside York Knights, were elevated to the top flight via an independent panel for this season.

Both received just half of the funding of their Super League rivals, but they have done an admirable job in the top division this campaign, steering clear of the bottom of the ladder and being competitive in most fixtures.

As it stands, a 14-team competition next year is set to be determined only by gradings, in which Toulouse ranked 13th of all clubs last time.

However, NRL officials have made an investment offer for a stake in Super League, and it remains to be seen how keen they would be for Australian-owned London Broncos to be promoted.

A place for the capital club would either see one team drop out, or Super League be expanded to 15 sides.

“Of course we are confident of remaining in Super League – it is our only goal moving forward,” said Garcia.

“As we all know, the grading system is still in place and we are working on all aspects to get the best mark possible.

“That we will know after the end of the season, but we are trying to improve all aspects: digital, attendance, finance and on-field performances of course.”
