WARRINGTON WOLVES expect strong carries, offloads and tries from new signing Jacob Gagai.
The Australian centre has signed a two-year contract to join from Huddersfield Giants.
He’s the first addition to Warrington’s threequarter line for next season, and replaces another 30-year-old in London Broncos-bound Toby King.
After making a late NRL breakthrough with South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2024, Gagai has impressed in two seasons with struggling Huddersfield, scoring 23 tries in 52 appearances.
That includes a touchdown in Warrington’s win over the Giants last month, after which Wire coach Sam Burgess expressed his admiration.
Now Burgess – who is yet to have his own future confirmed beyond this season, although he is expected to remain at the Halliwell Jones Stadium – is looking forward to having Gagai on his side.
“Gags is a real competitor and a high-quality centre, so we are delighted to have him on board next year,” said Burgess.
“He has been a consistent performer for Huddersfield and is a real line-break and offload threat, and scores tries.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming him and his family to the club.”
Gagai is Warrington’s fourth confirmed addition for 2027 after Leeds Rhinos halfback Brodie Croft – a replacement for Dolphins-bound captain George Williams – and first-grade pack newcomers Toby Crosby and Mitchell Prest, who join from Penrith Panthers and Mackay Cutters respectively.
“It is an honour to know I’ll be starting my new chapter over here with a great club,” said Gagai.
“My family and I are super excited about it and I can’t wait to get started.”
