Adrian Lam building a dynasty at Leigh Leopards

ADRIAN LAM says he has “loved every moment” of his Leigh Leopards journey – but is determined to see it continue until they reach the very top.

Lam took over the reins ahead of the 2022 Championship season with just a handful of players at his disposal following relegation.

He steered Leigh to Super League at the first time of asking before the club rebranded from the Centurions to Leopards that October.

In 2023, the Leopards lifted the Challenge Cup and finished inside the Super League play-offs in a remarkable turn of events.

Since then, Lam has helped Leigh consolidate their place as a potential silverware winner, with last Thursday’s 20-16 win at leaders Leeds Rhinos another statement of intent.

“I saw that it was the anniversary (of the Wembley win over Hull KR, three years ago last Wednesday) and it still gives me goosebumps,” Lam said.

“It’s amazing for the town. It was over 50 years since the last time Leigh had won it and it just reminds me of how much we have grown since we got to Super League.

“We have worked so hard for that and a lot of those players aren’t here now.

“What a moment it was for the town and the fans, and they can cherish that close to their hearts for the rest of their lives.

“The first years in Super League we were fifth, third and then fourth, and we have been 80 minutes away from Old Trafford twice which is incredible. I’ve loved every moment of the journey.

“We are striving to be in the top two and eventually the top one. It’s going to take time for greatness but we are prepared to work hard for it.

“The first part of it was to give the fans and town some hope and then it was to build a destiny and legacy here for people to look up to and have something to cheer for.”
