York Knights snap up Thomas Doyle

YORK KNIGHTS have signed Thomas Doyle following his release by Wakefield Trinity.

Part of the Wakefield promotion-winning squad in 2024, Doyle was limited to five appearances last season and didn’t feature at all for Trinity this year, largely through injury.

The 27-year-old joined Bradford Bulls on loan last month and made two appearances, with Trinity granting him an early release from his contract last week.

He’s signed with York for the remainder of this season, plus the next.

Doyle said: “I’m buzzing to be joining York for the final stretch of the Super League season.

“My main focus now is to hit the ground running, give absolutely everything to the club, and finish the year as strongly as possible.

“There is clearly a great group of lads here who are hungry to push themselves, and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

York head coach Mark Applegarth said: “I’m really glad Doyley has signed and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“I signed him for Wakefield and never actually got chance to work with him.

“He’s a tough no nonsense player that’s hungry to improve and I can’t wait to start working with him.”
