ADRIAN LAM hailed his Leigh Leopards side following an easy 46-6 demolition of Castleford Tigers.
The Leopards were on it from the first whistle, racing into an 18-0 lead early on with the likes of Lachlan Lam, Tesi Niu and Alec Tuitavake running riot at times.
“I think that’s the best we’ve started for a long time. There’s been a fair bit of a focus around that, and I thought we nailed that tonight,” Lam said.
“I thought Gaz O’Brien and Lachie Lam were fantastic. I rested Gaz last week to get a response this week and I thought we got exactly that from him.
“So I thought their combination tonight was the key to everything and if they continue like that then there’s some good times ahead for us. It was just really pleased that they were connected and got to see the DNA of us as a club and who we want to be in all areas.”
Father Adrian spoke about son Lachlan Lam’s performance and topping the try assist list with 38 this season: “That’s a couple of years in a row now that he’s led try assists.
“But he’s obviously very influential for us, he plays on both sides of the field, so it’s hard to defend that when he’s doing that sort of stuff. He’s at his best when he’s running the ball and taking the line on, and that’s what he did tonight.”
That win meant that the Leopards secured a play-off spot: “Tonight we’ve locked ourselves into that six which is incredible for Leigh.
“I don’t think we’ve ever done that before this early on in the season with three games to go. So it’s credit to the group. I think it’s also our biggest points on the ladder in any season since 1981.
“We’re doing some good stuff. We’ve just got to keep getting better at it.”
