MANCHESTER Swinton Lionesses have turned to Super League for their latest new recruit, signing Maddie Neale from Barrow Raiders.
She makes the move to the Championship after a season of regular Super League action with the Cumbrian side, making eleven appearances.
A local Barrow product who was elevated to the first team after impressing for the Reserves, Neale proved herself to be a powerful and dependable forward for Amanda Wilkinson’s side.
The Lionesses will benefit from the utility value Neale brings, with the 25-year-old having featured in the second row and at centre and later making a strong impact through the middle.
“This was an opportunity we moved on immediately,” said Lionesses coach John Whalley.
“Maddie is a player I watched closely in the second half of last season and she has a lot to offer, whether she plays edge or through the middle.
“She fits exactly what we want at this club — she is athletic, strong, fit, competitive, and driven to improve. I’m really looking forward to working with her.
Neale said: “I’m raring to go after signing. It’s a great group of girls and I’m excited to work hard, keep learning and develop my game in a new environment.”
As well as Neale, Barrow have also confirmed that Jazz Callon, Fran Harley, Becca Harley and Shannon Parker have left the club.
